Large antique brass hanging bell #2

A beautiful antique Indian hanging bell. In India,  I frequently see these bells hanging outside on little shrines or prayer spots. The tradition is to ring the bells loudly before prayer ‘to wake the gods’ so they may hear your prayers.

A stunning piece, with a lovely worn brass patina. Heavy weighted round bell with hand-etched crosshatch pattern, approximately hand sized on a long heavy chain.
